Debutantes Gujarat Lions (GL) are on a high after winning both their previous matches but the path is going to get more difficult from here on as they run into defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at the own backyard on Saturday.
Mumbai suffered a glitch in their very first match against Rising Pune Supergiants (RPSG) but unlike the last two years, the blue brigade made a quick turnaround by posting a dominating six-wicket win over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
The Gujarat Lions skipper Suresh Raina is the highest run getter in IPL history, scoring 3,699 runs in 128 matches. Chris Gayle’s 175* is the highest individual score by a player in the IPL. He also holds the record for the most number of sixes, 230. In terms of bowling, Lasith Malinga of MI is the leading wicket-taker with 143 wickets in 98 games. Sohail Tanvir, formerly at RR, holds the record for the best bowling figure in a game, 6-14.
